Bars with a view in London

Sushi Samba

Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, EC2N 4AY

A new and welcome addition to the London bar scene in 2012, Sushi Samba is located on the 38th and 39th floor of the Heron Tower in the financial district. Decor-wise, Sushi Samba is very light and airy with a contemporary design. The views are breath-taking from both inside the restaurant and its outdoor terrace.

Coq d’Argent

1 Poultry, EC2R 8EJ

Having one of the largest  roof terraces and gardens in London, Coq D'Argent makes for an excellent place to enjoy an al fresco drink whilst enjoying views of the city. The outside has immaculately landscaped gardens and canopys for shade, whilst the inside reflects a cruise liner with its mahogany paneling and pale green leather chairs.

Paramount

Located on the 32nd and 33rd floors of the listed Centrepoint building next to Tottenham Court Road station, Paramount can easily claim to have one of the best views in London. Inside is just as dramatic too with a copper bar and moody lighting, as well as one of the most comprehensive cocktail lists in the capital.

Radio Bar

ME Hotel, 336-337 The Strand, WC2R 1HA

Radio Bar, interestingly, earns its name because the building that hosts it was where the first BBC programming was broadcast back in 1922. It is one of the largest roof terraces in The West End, with enough space for a number of sofas that make the ideal place to enjoy views from Big Ben to Canary Wharf.

Windows

Galvin at Windows 22 Park Lane, W1K 1BE

Situated 28 floor above Hyde Park the bar in Galvins at Windows has some of the most exceptional views in London. The interior is a delightful and classy homage to the art deco era with an abundance of rich leather and metallic details. Their signature cocktails are just as impressive too.

Vertigo 42

Tower 42, EC2N 1HQ

Until surpassed by Sushi Samba in 2012, Vertigo 42 was the highest bar in London. However, still the views astonish - the bar encircles the building providing a 360 degree panorama of the streets below. The inside decor is extremely contemporary with eye catching sci-fi style chairs.

The Attic

Pan Peninsula, Canary Wharf, E14 9HN

Located 48 stories up in London's purpose built financial district, the Attic offers up a slice of New York along with excellent Martinis. Still somewhat a secret to Londoners, the bar must be entered by the the ground floor restaurant, Tompkins, where there is a small notice board pointing to the lift for the bar. Inside The Attic is a very relaxed affair with brown leather chairs,  shiny detailing and a small terrace to for smoking.

Min Jiang

Royal Garden Hotel, 2-24 Kensington High St, W8 4PT

On the 10th floor of the Royal Garden Hotel is the Min Jiang bar and restaurant. The bar is an extremely relaxed and quiet venue offering substantial views over Hyde Park and the cities skyline beyond. It is an ideal place for a pre dinner aperitif or indeed a relaxed afternoon tipple.

Oxo Tower

Barge House St, South Bank, SE1 9PH

High above the river Thames is the distinctive OXO bar. Designed by Shaun Clarkson the interior is intended to reflect the feel of a classic cruise liner. The views overlook the whole of London, from the City to the West End.

Minako at the Met

Metropole Hotel, 225 Edgware Road, W2 1JU

Tucked away in the west wing of the Metropole Hotel on Edgware Road, Minako remains one of London's unsung secrets. The bar offers unobstructed views over the whole of London along with a host of Asain fushion cocktails.

Aqua

5th Floor, 30 Argyll Street, W1F 7EB

Overlooking Regent's street is the 5th floor Aqua bar and terrace. The bar provides a welcome respite from the busy shopping streets below, and the two outdoor terraces look west over the Mayfair rooftops and make for an excellent spot to watch the sunset.

Altitude London

Millbank Tower, 21 - 24 Millbank, SW1P 4QP

Altitude 360 is situated on the 29th floor of the riverside Millbank Tower, offering expansive views over the Houses of Parliament and beyond... The venue has 4 floors available for private hire, otherwise the ultra modern and minimalist public bar is open every Saturday from 5pm to 12pm

The Boundary

2-4 Boundary Street, E2 7DD

Perched atop of the boutique Boundary Hotel is an alfresco rooftop overlooking the city's dramatic skyline. The space is extremely relaxed with wicker charis, shubbery and a wood buring fire. Cigars are on offer too. A new remodelled pergola means that the terrace remains invitingly open whatever the weather.

Sky Lounge

7 Pepys Street, EC3N 4AF

One of London's most popular roof terraces, the Sky Lounge features excellent views over the city, the Tower of London and St Pauls Cathedral. Located ontop of the Hilton Doubletree Hotel, the stylish venue offers cocktails to match.
